Namaste

20130420-153919.jpgI practiced hot yoga today for an hour to cleanse my body.  It felt really good to stretch my body after being stiff for weeks.  The yoga instructor I had today was really good.  She provided many types of adaptions for most poses to accommodate each individual yogi.  She even took some time to remember all of our names (a class of 10) and gave each of us support through-out the hour of practice.  Her words and guidance were very supportive and motivating.

For lunch, I had spinach salad with raspberry vinaigrette and quinoa salad with zucchini, peppers and green onions.  I also made a mango-strawberry smoothie as a treat.

In the top tier is a bed of kale with carrots and edamame, which I used as garden.  The bunnies are made out of kamaboko (a Japanese-style fish cake) and black sesame seed for eyes.  In the bottom tier is sesame flavoured peppers, white rice with an umeboshi on top, curry flavoured macaroni, mini corn bread, light Laughing Cow cheese and baked chicken wings.

Bento 39: Cheesy Macaroni and Broccoli

Did everybody have a good weekend?

It was absolutely awesome to have a weekend free of homework and exams.  I am going to spend the next several weeks to relax spiritually and physically.  On Saturday, Shadow and I went to look at some properties.  We would like to move out in the near future so we wanted to look at some options.  There is a lot of paperwork we need to go through first.  In the evening, we played late night badminton with some of my relatives and friends.  I haven’t played in a while, but it was fun!  I need to get into my physical activities again.

Yesterday, we met up with Shadow’s family and some of his relatives for dim sum.  We announced that we are engaged and they were surprised and happy.  The rest of the day was spent at my house playing Gears of War: Judgment, watching television and eating snacks.

Bento 07: Teriyaki Unagi on Rice with Mixed Veggies

I am VERY upset with myself.  I know it is my second week back playing Ultimate Frisbee, but I cannot play as well as I use to.  I am slower on my sprints because I have been long distance running in the past few years.  I cannot throw the frisbee as well during a game.  I believe it is more of my self-confidence than the fact that I cannot do it.  I used to be the handler and play coordinator, but I lost that now.  Time for some practice.

Today’s featured bento:

Picture 2: Sliced mango and strawberries for dessert.

Bento 06: Ancient Grain Rice with Carrot Flower

I am in a huge dilemma between work and school. Urgh!

Currently I am working full-time and going to school part-time.  Since I completed my 275 hours for my third year practicum, I want to go to school full-time and work part-time.  I do not want to leave my work placement because I love my team.  At the same time, I am being impatient and I want to finish my education faster.  I also want to gain more experience with youth so it would be wonderful if I could get a part-time job involving youth and adolescents.

There are so many things I want to do.  I am aware that my choices will affect who I am and what I will be in the future.  Usually I am very accepting to change and I embrace it, but things are not so easy this time around.  Why is it so hard to become an adult?

Today’s featured bento:

On the the top left is roasted garlic peppers.  On the bottom left is scrambled eggs with tomato and green onion.  On the right side is ancient grain rice decorated with a carrot flower, celery stem and celery leaves.

I made a lot of carrot flowers so it might be a theme for a bit.  It is my personal goal to learn how to make cute decorations for bento boxes so I hope I can keep up with it.
